Gerber Patternmaker

Los Angeles, CA

We’re looking for an experienced Pattern Specialist to develop high-quality sample patterns that deliver exceptional fit and capture the creative essence of each seasonal line. This LA-based role is hands-on and highly collaborative, working closely with design, production, and technical teams to bring sophisticated styles to life—especially in soft, delicate fabrics like chiffon, satin, crepe, and cotton. You’ll ensure that every garment is production-ready, technically sound, and aligned with brand aesthetics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Translate designer sketches into precise sample and production-ready patterns.

  • Collaborate with designers to finalize construction details, fit standards, and aesthetic intent.

  • Align closely with technical designers to meet all measurement specs and garment requirements.

  • Create and request markers for prototypes, pre-production, and production rounds, ensuring all documents (pattern cards, etc.) are accurate.

  • Attend fittings and revise patterns accordingly based on fit notes and revisions.

  • Ensure timely implementation of changes and maintain an up-to-date pattern library.

  • Proactively identify and address production challenges before samples are cut.

  • Maintain consistency across fit, grading, construction, and measurement standards.

  • Take part in product reviews and cross-functional meetings, offering technical insight and improvements.

  • Contribute to workflow efficiency by troubleshooting bottlenecks and sharing solutions with the team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or formal training in pattern making, product development, or related apparel field.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in pattern development.

  • Expertise in garment fit, construction, and materials, specializing in soft woven fabrics.

  • Proficiency in Gerber patternmaking software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong command of technical design, garment engineering, and sewing techniques.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

  • Effective communicator, team collaborator, and open to constructive feedback.

  • Physically able to sit for long durations and perform repetitive hand motions.

  • Bring a proactive, professional, and positive attitude to the workplace.
