Sr. Denim Designer

Los Angeles, CA

An innovative LA-based fashion house is hiring a Lead Designer to drive the evolution of their women’s denim assortment. This role sits at the heart of the brand’s identity—fusing elevated design with technical depth and modern market relevance. As the category owner for denim, you’ll set the creative tone and translate directional trends into polished, wearable collections.

This is a role for a denim specialist with a finger on the pulse of both global fashion and domestic market shifts. You’ll conceptualize and execute full collections, work directly with vendors and wash facilities, and own the design process from initial sketch through final fit. Cross-functional collaboration and commercial savvy are key.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define seasonal denim stories aligned with brand positioning and fashion-forward sensibilities

  • Conduct trend research and translate inspiration into compelling design boards and product narratives

  • Develop and refine fabric and wash concepts in partnership with mills and overseas suppliers

  • Own silhouette and fit development, including trims, construction, and technical details

  • Partner with internal wash specialists and external vendors to ensure wash execution meets aesthetic and quality standards

  • Lead fittings, resolve production challenges, and maintain consistency across the assortment

  • Align closely with product development, tech design, and merchandising to ensure deliverables meet aesthetic and financial goals

  • Provide creative leadership to junior designers and collaborate with other category leads to ensure collection cohesion

  • Monitor the competitive landscape and identify opportunities to innovate or evolve the line

  • Support seasonal budget planning for development and sampling

REQUIREMENTS

  • 8–10+ years in women’s denim design, with strong experience in premium/contemporary markets

  • Deep knowledge of denim fabrication, wash innovation, fit construction, and trim application

  • Skilled at interpreting trends through a refined, commercial lens

  • Demonstrated ability to lead the design process from ideation to production

  • Strong cross-functional communicator and collaborative partner

  • Able to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, design-led environment

  • Familiar with costing, pricing strategy, and the impact of design decisions on margin

  • Willingness to travel for vendor collaboration, sourcing trips, and inspiration

  • This is a full-time, in-person role based in Los Angeles.
