Director of Merchandising

A globally recognized fashion accessories is seeking a Head of Merchandising to lead the commercial strategy behind its accessories collections. Based in Los Angeles, this role works closely with executive leadership and an international design team to translate creative direction into a cohesive, profitable product assortment.
RESPONSIBLITIES
Structure seasonal handbag and SLG collections across core carryover styles, seasonal fashion, and key statement items
Maintain strong SKU discipline and balanced assortments
Support long-term product strategies that drive brand growth
Collaborate closely with the design team to support the original creative vision while optimizing commercial performance
Apply merchandising insight to strengthen assortment clarity and product flow
Lead carryover strategy and refresh core handbag groups seasonally
Maintain consistency across collections while introducing relevant updates
Present collections effectively during line reviews and sales meetings
Develop merchandising layouts and product storytelling to highlight key styles
Adapt presentations based on market and channel needs
Partner with design, product development, sales, planning, and production teams
Translate market feedback into actionable merchandising insights
Support assortments across global markets and distribution channels while maintaining brand consistency
Lead and develop the merchandising team while driving clear processes and accountability
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Business, Merchandising, or related field
10–15+ years of merchandising, buying, or planning experience in fashion or accessories
Strong expertise in accessories
Experience working within designer-led brands
Strong visual merchandising and presentation skills
Strategic mindset with excellent organizational and communication abilities
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
